Start line

SL	Start line	The starting area will be northwest of Ireland’s Eye. The Starting Line shall be between an orange buoy with an orange flag (to be passed to port) and a red/white pole or the main mast of the Committee Starting Vessel that will display an orange flag.

Finish

F	Finish line	From the last mark on the displayed course, boats shall sail to the finish line passing the Spit mark to starboard. The finishing line, unless a race is shortened, shall be in the vicinity of the Spit Mark (S) and the South Rowan Buoy (R) and shall be between a spherical orange Mark F and the main mast (or red/white pole) on the adjacent Committee Finishing Vessel displaying a blue flag.

Every course on this card continues past its last printed mark: S → F. The card prints none of it. HYC Autumn League 2026 sailing instructions 6.2 D, as amendment 01 replaces it.

Card notes

1. The colour and style (underlined or not) of the mark reference letter displayed above indicates the required side that the mark is to be left. RED indicates leave to port, GREEN to starboard. Whether marks are to be rounded or passed is determined by the course required to sail from the mark preceding the mark in question to the one after it. Marks are to be left (rounded or passed) in the sequence listed. Where an objective assessment of the course design and listed mark sequence indicates a requirement to round a mark, rather than passing it (thereby reducing the number of legs sailed), it shall be deemed a rounding mark.

2. The finishing line for Round The Cans courses races shall, unless the race is shortened, be in Howth Sound in the area between Spit (S) mark and the South Rowan Buoy (R). Spit mark shall be passed to starboard when approaching the finish.
